Microsoft quietly activates feature that lets AI scrape your personal info
Microsoft has quietly rolled out an AI feature that automatically accesses your data in Word and Excel documents. The company introduced Connected Experiences on all of its Microsoft 365 apps last month. It's turned on by default if you have Windows X and above, and requires users to manually disable the feature to turn it off. Connected Experiences analyzes user's content to provide design recommendations, grammar and editing suggestions while also offering relevant links to more information. The data includes information like user's search history, app usage and location to personalize their results when Connected Experiences is active.
Google 'Pixel Stand' might turn your phone into a smart speaker
When the Pixel 3 comes out, it might launch with a special kind of wireless charging dock: one that could make buying a smart speaker unnecessary unless you need more than one. The lines show what you'll see on screen when you dock your phone. One of them very clearly states that if you allow your phone to recognize the Pixel Stand as a trusted dock, you'll be able to summon Assistant even if your phone is locked. The AI will also be able to access your personal info to be able to give you personalized recommendations and to answer your questions. Google first dropped hints about the device with Android P Developer Preview 3, which contained references to a dock that can display battery status through the At a Glance widget.

Google Assistant can share your personal info in Allo chats
For now, Allo is the one place where regular Android users can get a taste of Google Assistant, the AI helper that's otherwise reserved for Google's own Pixel phones. You can call on it during a chat with one or more folks, and it can do a search, set reminders and even tell a joke. Google has just given it a new trick that should make it more useful -- letting you share contacts, calendar appointments and other personal info. To use it, you just type "@google," and then tap the assistant when it pops up. You can then ask for a meeting date or airline reservation, for instance, and it will privately show you any of the information that it can find.
